Collège Boréal’s first poetry book to be published in collaboration with the publishing house Prise de parole

2010-04-01

Sudbury – As part of its 15th anniversary, Collège Boréal announced last week the imminent release of a first book of poetry published in cooperation with the publishing house Prise de parole. This book will feature over sixty poems that were submitted in the last two years as part of Collège Boréal’s Poetry Contest.

Established in 2009, this annual event is open to both students and staff members from all Collège Boréal campuses. Through this literary forum and this first poetry book, Collège Boréal intends to offer a new platform that supports and increases the prestige of a modern and refreshing French-speaking expression.

This initiative not only provides an educational aspect, it also emphasizes on how important it is to build a cultural heritage says Collège Boréal’s President, Denis Hubert: “I dare to hope that we have begun a great tradition here and that fifteen years down the line, our college will be proud to have acquired an entire collection of works of this kind that will help to build the future heritage of all Franco-Ontarians”. Moreover, it is worth mentioning that all illustrations and photos are the works of the college’s 2D/3D Animation program students.

For her part, the Executive Director of Éditions Prise de Parole, Denise Truax, welcomes the innovative spirit demonstrated by Collège Boréal in order that the students and personnel have the opportunity to embrace, freely and openly, such a rich and diversified use of the French language: “I find it particularly interesting that Collège Boréal involves its students and personnel in such a creative process. We are also pleased to collaborate in this initiative which underlines the importance of being able to write and express oneself in a warm and relaxing atmosphere.”

This book of poetry will be handed out as a gift to all Collège Boréal’s graduates during the next graduation ceremonies that will start at the end of May 2010.
